Flat Kit vs Drum Smack
The same loop — then with the crack and punch pulled forward.

v1.29.3 · Free 14-day trialArm it and play. Freeze Frame 47 is a freeze pedal for the DAW, grown into an instrument: it captures the last moment of audio — 50 milliseconds to 8 seconds — as a seamless loop, puts an envelope, a two-octave speed slider, and five freeze modes under your hands, and files the takes you arm it for into the Evidence Vault.
And a second engine: STAKEOUT — flip one switch and the same envelope shapes your live audio instead. A transient and envelope designer for drums, vocals and whole mixes, plus a beat-locked pump — inside the same plugin.

The perfect moment plays once and is gone — the vowel that should ring under the whole transition, the chord that should become a pad, the noise that should carry the bridge. Freeze pedals solved this for guitarists years ago. FF-47 brings the pedal into the DAW and then keeps going: envelope, pitch, modes, macros, and a recorder — a freeze you perform, not just hold.
Flip ENGINE to STAKEOUT and Freeze Frame 47 stops freezing. The same four envelope sliders become an envelope designer for whatever is playing through it — drums, a vocal, a bus, a whole mix — live, with nothing to capture and nothing to hold. Press ARM and the sound in front of you takes the shape you draw.
No threshold to set and nothing to trigger: STAKEOUT splits the sound by time and hands you a fader for each moment — so it keeps working on dense drum buses and loud, limited mixes where trigger-based shapers lose the beat.
The first instant of every hit.
The few milliseconds right after it.
What rings while the note holds.
The ring-out, the room, the air.
50 = untouched (bit-exact) · 100 = +12 dB · 0 = gone · FREEZE becomes SEPARATION — how sharply the four moments are pulled apart.
On every grid step the level slams down to the SUSTAIN floor, holds for DECAY, and swells back over RELEASE — the classic pump, locked to your DAW's beat.
The inverse: every step punches a boost in — SUSTAIN sets how hard, ATTACK how fast, DECAY how long it lets go.
Straight, dotted or triplet. Starts on the beat however you hit play — mid-bar, mid-song, after a locate.
DRIFT becomes real tape wow on the live signal · SPEED becomes a live pitch shift · TEXTURE adds grit · MIX is a true wet/dry · ARM is the performance switch — it glides in and out without a click, so you can play it like a pedal.
Each one ships in the preset browser and was checked on a real drum loop and a real vocal before it got its name.
The same loop — then with the crack and punch pulled forward.
The room and the ring pulled back without touching the hits.
Consonants and word starts step out — no EQ, no compressor.
A held pad, then breathing on the beat — no kick, no sidechain routing.
The STAKEOUT exhibits are being printed now, and a full STAKEOUT walkthrough film is in production — both land here first.
Three exhibits, one rule: the dry take and the same bars through Freeze Frame 47 — level-matched, one switch apart, named for the factory preset that makes it.
One strummed chord, caught and held as an endless pad under the part.
A vocal phrase, then its last syllable frozen and drifting into the gap.
A drum groove, then a beat-quantized stutter capture for the fill.
The exhibits are being printed at the studio now — dry/wet pairs land here as they're finished. The trial has all of it today.
The face and the drawers — from the operations manual.
Arm it and play: FF-47 captures the last moment of audio — 50 ms to 8 seconds — as a seamless loop and holds it for as long as the case requires. CHASE is the catch-and-release control: up, the freeze re-grabs accents and follows the song; at zero, it locks the loop you caught and never lets go.
A full Attack / Decay / Sustain / Release envelope over the frozen layer, so the freeze behaves like an instrument: fade it in like a pad, gate it like a stab, let it ring like a sustain pedal.
The SPEED slider spans two octaves down to two octaves up; Musical Speed lands it on real intervals (display-only, soft latch, or hard snap — with a nearest-interval and cents readout). DRIFT scans the loop; TEXTURE roughs the surface.
Blend, Damage, Motion, Space, Dust, Focus, Output, Era — the whole character of the frozen layer on eight knobs, automatable from the host.
The Advanced drawer opens the engine room: Sample Time in Free mode or synced to 16 divisions from 1/32 to 4 bars (dotted and triplet included), Capture Quantize (off / beat / bar) so the grab lands on the grid, and a second engine — STAKEOUT — that skips capture entirely and runs the live signal through drift, speed, texture, and a triggered envelope.
Five ways to play the loop — Normal, Reverse, Swell, Stutter, Ghost — all resting at exactly neutral in Normal so the stock sound never moves. Evidence Shuffle produces one musical variation of the drawer per click; Safe Random guarantees it never touches your mix, blend, output, or the freeze itself.
A performance recorder streaming takes to disk as 24-bit WAVs — up to ten minutes — in Manual, Fixed Length, or Follow Sample Time mode, filed straight into your Music folder. Play the freeze, keep the take, build from it anywhere.
Eight factory case files ship in the box, named for the move: On Ice, Noir Organ Bed, Slow Motion Suspect, Hot Pursuit, Dust Bloom Pad, Stakeout Shimmer, Deep Freeze — plus INIT as the clean slate. Your own saves file alongside them.
The Evidence Vault makes FF-47 part of the house system: what you perform gets recorded as plain 24-bit WAVs on your drive — drag the keepers into the session, a sampler, or a pack. Sounds you stumble into stop escaping.

Freeze Frame 47’s second engine. Switch ENGINE to STAKEOUT in the Advanced drawer and press ARM: nothing gets frozen — the four envelope sliders shape the live signal instead, as four moments of every sound (smack, punch, body, tail), or pump and pulse on your DAW’s beat in BEAT mode. More above.
It does that job and more: it splits the sound by time, not by a trigger, so attack, punch, body and tail each get their own fader (+12 dB to fully off), and it keeps working on dense, loud material. BEAT mode adds a tempo-locked pump and pulse.
No — a looper records passes and layers them on a timeline. FF-47 grabs one seamless moment and makes it an instrument: envelope, speed, modes, and macros over a single held frame, with CHASE deciding whether it follows the song or locks in place.
